چکیده

An ad hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile hosts forming a temporary network without the aid of any established infrastructure or centralized administration. In such an environment, it may be necessary for one mobile host to want the aid of other hosts in forwarding a packet to its destination, due to the limited range of each mobile host's wireless transmissions. In this paper Ad Hoc networks and Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) algorithm is presented. 1 Definition of Ad Hoc Networks Wireless networks (IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN Group) can be classified in two types: First, infrastructured network which consists of a network with fixed and wired gateways (Tanenbaum 1996). A mobile host communicates with a bridge in the network (called base station) within its communication radius. The mobile unit can move geographically while it is communicating. Figure 1: Simple ad hoc network When it goes out of the range of one base station, it connects with a new fixed base station and starts communicating through it. Second, infrastructureless (ad hoc) networks: In ad hoc networks all nodes are mobile and can be connected dynamically in an arbitrary manner. All nodes of these networks behave as routers and take part in discovery and maintenance of routes to other nodes in the network. Figure 1 shows a simple ad hoc network. Mobile A wants to send a packet to Mobile C but C is out of the range, so Mobile B relays A's packets to Mobile C. Ad hoc networks consist of wireless mobile hosts that communicate with each other in the absence of a fixed infrastructure. There are various usages of ad hoc networks, two of them are: emergency search-and-rescue operations and data transfer in inhospitable terrain. ∗ This work is supported by the State Planning Organization of Turkey under the grant number DPT98K120890.

Today, one of the new technologies in the modern era is Vehicular Ad-hoc Network which has takenenormous attention in the recent years. Because of rapid topology changing and frequent disconnectionmakes it difficult to design an efficient routing protocol for routing data between vehicles, called V2V orvehicle to vehicle communication and vehicle to roadside infrastructure, called V2I. Simulation Study of Aodv and Dsr Routing Protocol in Wireless Ad - Hoc Networks

Ad-hoc wireless networks are defined as the category of wireless networks that utilize multi hope radio relaying and are capable of operating without the support of any fixed infrastructure. Wireless mesh networks and wireless sensor networks are specific examples of wireless ad-hoc networks. This paper discusses in detail the functioning of AODV and DSR routing protocol In different propagatio...

A Hidden Node Aware Network Allocation Vector Management System for Multi-hop Wireless Ad hoc Networks

Many performance evaluations for IEEE 802.11distributed coordination function (DCF) have been previouslyreported in the literature. Some of them have clearly indicatedthat 802.11 MAC protocol has poor performance in multi-hopwireless ad hoc networks due to exposed and hidden nodeproblems. Although RTS/CTS transmission scheme mitigatesthese phenomena, it has not been successful in thoroughlyomit...

A-DSR: A DSR-Based Anycast Protocol for IPv6 Flow in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

IP anycast allows a source node to transmit IP packets to a single destination node, out of a group of destination nodes. It can be an important paradigm for an ad-hoc network in terms of resource, robustness and efficiency for replicated service applications. DSR is a simple and efficient routing protocol designed specifically for use in multi-hop wireless ad hoc networks of mobile nodes. This...

A Survey of Solutions to Protect Against All Types of Attacks in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

In recent years mobile networks have expanded dramatically, compared with other wireless networks. Routing protocols in these networks are designed with the assumption that there is no attacker node, so routing protocols are vulnerable to various attacks in these networks. In this paper, we review the network layer attacks and then we simulate the impact of black hole attack on ad hoc on demand...

MP-DSR: A QoS-Aware Multi-Path Dynamic Source Routing Protocol for Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks

Routing in wireless ad-hoc networks has received significant attention from recent literature due to the fact that the dynamic behavior of these networks poses many technical challenges on the design of an effective routing scheme. Though on-demand routing approaches have been shown to perform well, they generally lack the support for Quality-of-Service (QoS) with respect to data transmission. ...
